Dr. Mohammad Ali Zolfigal, Minister of Science, Research and Technology, in a message on the occasion of the beginning of the academic year, emphasized: “The higher education system has been very successful in various fields, especially in training specialized and committed manpower. Now, it requires a mission due to different expertise. We meet the needs of society and improve the quality of education, research, and production of science and technology.
Dr. Zolfigol commemorated the Holy Defense Week and the Iranian martyrs and the radiant memory of the martyrs and stated, “It is obligatory for everyone to celebrate the epic of eight years of holy defense and to explain the lessons and values of the resistance of the proud nation of Iran in those years.”
In following, he mentioned, “Undoubtedly, everyone believes that the first condition for a dignified life of a nation is wisdom, knowledge, and awareness, and learning science is the main condition for the progress of societies. With the internal controls (faith, literature, morality, and conscience) and the external controls (law) that result from education, societies achieve development, prosperity, awareness, comfort, and tranquility.
He pointed out, “What can be seen today from the manifestations of civilization and progress in the industrialized and developed countries of the world is the achievement of science and knowledge. Indeed, the fundamental role of knowledge in their development in the field of industry and modern technology cannot be ignored. In other words, the only difference between low-income and advanced countries is in science and technology.”
Furthermore, he said, “The higher education system has been very successful in various fields, especially in training specialized and committed human resources, but due to various specializations, we need mission-oriented, moving in line with the needs of society and improving the quality of education, research and production of science and technology. This year, the new school year begins due to the pandemic of Covid-19 different from previous years, with the bitter loss of a number of our compatriots, professors, scientists, students and esteemed employees of the higher education system. We cherish the memory of the health martyrs and offer our condolences to the doctors, nurses and jihadist personnel of the Ministry of Health, and Medical Education.
