The National Museum of Science and Technology of Iran is the virtual host of the 48th International Conference of Museums and Science Centers of the World (Simost 2021 Tehran) entitled “The Role of Museums and Science Centers in Environmental Protection” from 16 to 20 Aban 1400.

The National Museum of Science and Technology of Iran was selected by the members of the Simost Council as the host of the forty-eighth annual conference at the 47th Conference of Simost 2019 Tokyo, and Simost 2021 Tehran due to the outbreak of the Corona pandemic worldwide with a one-year break and will be officially opened virtually on Sunday, November 7th.

Seifollah Jalili, Scientific Secretary of the Simost 2021 Tehran Conference and Director of the National Museum of Science and Technology of Iran, Alberto Garlandini, Chairman of the Council International Museums (ICOM), H. Cherki Demali, Chairman of the International Committee of Museums of Science and Technology (SIMOS), Bao Ki Dong, Director of the Asia-Pacific Museums (SPAC) and Seyed Ahmad Mohit Tabatabai, Chairman of ICOM Iran will speak at the opening ceremony.

Hug de Verin, former President of the World ICOM, on “Museum of Science as a Tool for Empowering Society”, François Myers, Chair of UNESCO on the Study of Museum Diversity and Its Evolution on “Museums, Global Change and Sustainable Development”, by Jane Cardenis Keynote speakers at the conference include “Museums and Environmental Education: Environmental Education: Insights of Turkish Museums” and Samuel Franco Arche, Executive Director of the Guatemala-based Casacjom Cultural Preservation Center on “Culture Can Heal”.

The 48th International Conference on Museums and Science Centers of the World (Simost 2021 Tehran) will present in English. Attendance at the conference and its side workshops are free and open to the public. An international certificate is issued.
