According to the Global Greenmetric Ranking (2021), Birjand University was named one of the “Green Universities” in the world for the second year in a row.
According to the International Ranking of Sustainable and Green Universities of the World (UI GreenMetric) in 2021, Birjand University was able to rank 31st among 42 universities in the country for the second year in a row. Birjand University was ranked 785th among the universities participating in this system.
Dr. Mohammad Hajipour, Secretary of the University Green Management Steering Council said: “policies related to the environment and the impact of education and research on development in universities around the world in higher education were formed in 2010. In this ranking system, universities around the world are ranked based on their commitment and commitment to sustainability issues. Greenmetric of six criteria: environment and infrastructure (٪ 15), energy and climate change (٪ 21) , waste management (٪ 18) , water (٪ 10) , transportation (٪ 18) and education (٪ 18) Used to evaluate and rank higher education institutions.”
In the Greengometric 2021 ranking, data from 956 universities from 80 countries were evaluated. In the overall ranking, the University and Research Center of Wachningen in the Netherlands were in first place, and the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom and the University of Groningen in the Netherlands were in second and third place, respectively.
