1-1 Definition and Purpose of the Program

Due to the high importance of civil works, civil engineering is one of the first engineering programs in the country. Undergraduate course in civil engineering is one of the higher education series in the field of technology and engineering. Its purpose is to train talented people who can perform the tasks of designing, managing, supervising and executing development projects in related fields with full scientific and technical knowledge, while meeting the growing development needs of society in these areas.

The importance of this field is due to the government's development policies and attention to large investments in order to do the followings: construction of residential buildings, highways, railways, main and secondary roads, water supply networks, with the priority of meeting the development needs in the fields of housing, roads and drinking water supply in villages and small towns

1-2 Alumni's Mission and Ability

Graduates of this field will have the following capabilities and abilities::
1- Calculation and design of conventional engineering buildings and structures for road construction and water facilities
2- Implementing construction projects, road construction and water facilities as a workshop engineer
3- Supervising the correct implementation of development projects in the above-mentioned fields as a supervising engineer of the workshop
4- Continuing to study in specialized civil engineering universities in research and postgraduate courses

1-3 Program Curriculum

The average length of this program is four years and is in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. The educational system is on term-unit basis. Each theoretical unit lasts for 16 hours and each practical unit lasts for 32 hours during each semester. The length of the undergraduate program will be a maximum of 4 years.

1-4 Number and Type of Courses

The total number of units in this course is currently 140 units, which is defined by considering 23 units of basic courses, 80 units of main courses, 22 units of general courses and 15 units of elective courses and 2 units of internship.
