1-1 Definition and Purpose of the Program

Educational Technology is the study of how to facilitate the flow of learning and improve the unlearned performance through innovation as well as use and management of processes and floating resources in an appropriate manner and according to the ethical criteria contained in the definition of educational technology.

The main purpose of educational technology is to facilitate learning line with improving people’s performance.

Quantitatively, we can mention the availability of educational facilities for everyone regardless of time, space, and physical constraints. This is possible through the availability of programs, computer softwares, databases, mobile technologies, and other multimedia facilities to everybody, so that people of all ages and genders can benefit from appropriate educational programs.

Form the perspective of quality, there is always deprivation everywhere in terms of human resources and equipment.

Qualitative and quantitative studies consist of theorizing, philosophical analysis, historical researches, development projects, error analysis, system analysis, and evaluation. On the other hand, we can see that learning environments are changing rapidly; and, at the same time, new technologies are evolving and their applications in daily life, education, and job opportunities are increasingly prevailing.

The purpose of designing and updating the curriculum of the master’s degree in educational technology is to provide a suitable environment for educating researchers who seek to find various solutions to solve educational issues—researchers who have not only acquired the basic and essential knowledge in the field of education, but also have the necessary skills in modern technologies.

1-2 Alumni's Mission and Ability

Upon acquiring knowledge in various fields (educational sciences, psychology, sociology, applications of media and technologies), educational technologists are able to solve many educational problems in different courses by producing up-to-date content. Since the introduction of any new medium should be based on the use of new teaching methods, so it is just educational technologists who can make the maximum use from each medium by identifying its characteristics and getting acquainted with various issues of education and psychology.

Educational technologists are responsible for guiding educational designers, developers of educational materials and content, counselors' courses, internship center managers, faculty department heads, internship supervisors, professors and instructors at higher education levels, and educational science students.

Graduates of this program should be altruistic, humane, interested in the teaching process, and honest in practice. They also need to have extraordinary intelligence and artistic vision. In fact, the graduates of this field are educational designers and educational engineers. Engineering whose concern is to facilitate learning and training.

1-3 Program Curriculum

The program curriculum is designed for 4 semesters and its duration is a maximum of 3 years (according to the regulations of the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology). Each semester constitutes 16 full academic weeks, and the duration of each theoretical course is 16 hours; and the duration of each practical course (lab and workshop course) is 48 hours.

The total number of courses in the master's degree in educational technology is 32 units. Among these, 22 units are mandatory courses, 6 units are elective courses, and 4 units are for thesis. Mandatory courses in this field consist of 22 units that are organized in two groups of core courses and specialized courses.
